What is LoneStar?

LoneStar is an annual run put on by the Texas Conference of Clubs at the Buzzards' Peak Landsite. It is a joint effort by all members of the Conference, and proceeds from this run go to benefit the Conference. This year's LoneStar, LoneStar 21, will be held over Memorial Day weekend, May 22 - 25 2009. The theme for this run is "LoneStar 21 - Best Little Campground in Texas".

Who are the Texas Conference of Clubs?

The Texas Conference of Clubs, Inc. owns and operates a private 30-plus acre campground outside of Cameron, Texas. The Conference is composed of member clubs, independent members and commercial organizations. TCC has member clubs in Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio, as well as other cities in and bordering the State of Texas. More information can be found on our web site www.texasconferenceofclubs.com

What amenities are available at the Landsite?

The 30-plus acre campground provides all the amenities you need to have a great weekend this LoneStar! We have showers, flush toilets, a commercial-grade kitchen, a bunkhouse, and the pole barn with the stage. For the LoneStar run, you will not need to worry about your meals, soft drinks, or beer as they are provided. However, if you would like something a bit stronger, BYOB.

Where can I stay while at the Landsite?

The Landsite offers many cleared spots suited for pitching a tent. Many sites also have electrical service available (10 amps max!). Most of these sites have convenient access to a water spigot. If you own an RV, you are also welcome to bring it in. There are sites conditioned for RVs, and some have electrical hookups (30 amps max) and water spigots. Keep in mind that these sites are all "back-in" only, and are limited. They will be provided on a first come, first served basis. There is no additional fee for using one of the tent or RV sites, but there is an additional fee for electric service. Electric service will be an additional $10 for tents, and $25 for RVs. This covers the entire weekend.

If tent camping is not your thing, and you don't have an RV, you are welcome to use the TCC Bunkhouse - an air-conditioned single-wide trailer. There is an additional fee of $15 to reserve a spot in the Bunkhouse. If you are interested in this, we strongly recommend sending in your application early, as it fills up very quickly.

I have never been to the Landsite -- what should I bring?

The Landsite is in a rural setting, so you may have an opportunity to interact with the wildlife. We recommend that you bring boots or good, sturdy shoes. You may run into snakes or other creatures, although this is not common. We strongly recommend against wearing sandals or flip-flops at the landsite, or going barefoot.

The Landsite is clothing-optional, so you may or may not need to pack a lot of clothes. During May it can get rather warm, so plan accordingly. We also recommend you bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent.

The Landsite has hot showers available. Please bring your own cosmetics (soap, shampoo, etc as appropriate). You should also bring a towel. If you are staying in the bunkhouse you should bring your own linens and pillows.

Meals will be provided for you as part of the run, but you might want to bring along any other snacks, etc you might want. Soft drinks and beer are also provided with your run fee. Ice is available for purchase at the Landsite (bring your own cooler or suitable container). You will need to provide any other liquor or other drinks you may want.

This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of what to bring. If you have not been to the Landsite before, we recommend you get in touch with us, or ask someone that has been recently.

What activities will be happening during the run?

As part of the run, you will have the option of participating in the fun activities we have planned for you. There will be various games throughout the weekend, including Biker games. LoneStar is also the time when we hold our annual Mr/Ms/Miss LoneStar contest. Also, we will be hosting the Show of all Shows on Sunday evening. Finally, many members, member clubs, or other organizations will be hosting cocktail parties throughout the weekend. You should have no trouble finding something (or someone) to keep you entertained!
